Paper & Ralph Pucci

Design brief

To create sculptural elements made almost entirely of white paper to complement the new collection of Girl2 mannequins by Ralph Pucci International.

Experiments in paper

I wanted this piece to complement the subtle, minimalistic curves of the mannequins, and to add a calming sense of motion to the space. I experimented with stringing discs of different scales onto ceiling-mounted strands, and the sculpture took off from there.

Final piece

The sculpture is composed of approximately 3,500 paper disks, cut using a rig on a band saw. They were threaded onto 14 strands with paper spacers in between.

This piece has been displayed in Pucci's Gallery Nine showroom in Manhattan, the Macy's flagship store in Herald Square, and the EuroShop international retail trade fair in Düsseldorf, Germany. It has also been featured in Interior Design magazine.
